About Mozart
Mozart builds software that helps food, beverage and foodservice suppliers recover invalid retailer and distributor deductions.
The role
You'll be the first engineer and own the product end to end: architecture, data, AI, and the experience suppliers see. You'll work directly with customers and help decide what we build next.
What you’ll own
- The data layer: connectors for remittances, retailer and distributor portals, ERPs and accounting systems, EDI, and the PDFs and spreadsheets that make up the rest
- The matching and validation engine that ties each deduction to its invoice, PO, delivery proof and trade agreement
- AI agents that classify deductions, draft disputes, and submit them through portals, with human review where accuracy matters
- The supplier-facing app: recovery dashboard, dispute queue, reporting
- Security, auditability and reliability from the start, since we handle customers’ financial data
- Hiring and setting the bar for the engineers who follow
About you
- 3+ years shipping production software, ideally at an early-stage startup
- Strong in TypeScript and/or Python, Postgres, and modern cloud tooling
- Have built with LLMs in production: structured extraction, tool use, evals
- Comfortable with messy data and unglamorous integrations
- Want to talk to customers, not just tickets
Nice to have
Fintech, AR/AP or ERP integrations; browser automation; document AI/OCR; prior founding or first-ten-engineer experience.
